You

I try to forget, I really do.

I can’t.

How can I forget you holding me close,

Your hand in mine,

As if we owned the world?

I shudder at the sound of your name.

Memories of pain stream down my face.

How can I act like everything is normal

Now that you’re not holding me tighter,

Now that my hand

Is not in yours?

There’s a place in my heart

For words unsaid,

Stitching, searing words

That remind me

Of you.
